Imagination - By Ted

Everyone has an imagination, but some people choose not to use theirs. In my opinion, there's no reason not to use your imagination, because it helps with everything. Sometimes in theater class people will say, "OMG I DON'T WANT TO BE ON STAGE PICK SOMEONE ELSE I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING  BLAH BLAH BLAH" If you've ever done that, shame on you. Just take the first thing you think of and turn it into a scene - instant creativity.
It works with art class too -  people will say, "UGH MR. CLARK I'M SUCH A BAD ARTIST WHY DO I HAVE TO DO THIS LET ME JUST FAIL THIS CLASS I HATE DRAWING BLAH BLAH" Shame on you people, too. It doesn't take a lot of thought to be imaginative, just think of something you like or the first thing that comes into your head.
Maybe not wanting to be creative is just part of laziness. Some people just want to get things done and don't care about how boring and unoriginal they might be. Fine, I will let you live you life with the same amount of creativity as a paperclip, but it's a fact that people who use their imagination have more fun.
For those of you who already use your imagination, A+ for you. I don't care what anyone says, using your imagination will never be uncool.

Wise Elders

Dear Students of Arrowhead,

Why must younger generations miss treat older generations? Is it because we have lost all patience? I don't think it's because we have no patients i think its be cause we may have shorter attention span. I think we may have shorter attention spans because we have more advanced things like technology and TV's that we watch or do so much we get lazy and we have no time for other people besides our self . Some people think elders are our only link to the past, and if we had no past I think it would probably be harder to move on into the future. Elders also have much knowledge about many things younger generations don't have much knowledge on, and if we treat older people bad then come to then with a question why should they answer it.
in The Wise Old Woman there is a young foolish king that throws everybody out that turns 71. But there was a young farmer and his mother turned 71 and he didn't want to abandon her so he built a secret room and she lived there. Then one day there was another King called Higa that ruled a bigger village and demanded one thousand ropes of ash or he would concur the village. So the young farmer asked his mother and his mother laugh and told him what to do (no one in the village knew how to do this task). Then on another day Higa sent another demand to the small village, asking them to weave a silk string into a wooden log (no body knew how to do it because it was small). Then the young farmer had went to his mother, and told her there trouble news. then the mother smiled and told him how to do it. then the king asked the farmer how he knows all these things and the farmer said he had been asking his mother and that his old mother had been living at his house under the kitchen. Then the young king had asked the Wise old Woman for forgiveness and allowed old people to live in the village.
\           So the next time your about to talk about a Elder (person older than you) you should stop and think about what if you will need them later on in your life. so if the answer is yes i don't think it would be wise to pick or talk about them.

New Play, Big Bad - By Ted

Excitement over Arrowhead's future play, Big Bad, is all over the school. The sign up sheets in the lunchroom were overflowing with people who wanted to try out. The actual try outs were Jan 23, and tons of kids showed up. Mr. Brame anwswers questions you might have about Big Bad:

Q: What is the play about?
A:The play takes place in a fairy tale world where the Big Bad Wolf is being put on trial for all of the crimes done by various wolves in various fairy tails.

Q:When is it?
A:The play will be on March 7:00 @ 9:00 A.M. There will be a $2.00 cost to students to attend and you will get out of class!

Q:What are the actors doing to practice?
A: The actors are working hard in practice.  The first few weeks we will be blocking the show, which is where I tell the actors where to be and when.  After that we will go Off Book, or without our scripts in our hands, and run the show over and over.

Q:What are some of the roles?
A:The play features characters from all over fairy tales. Some don't have anything to do with wolves and are our lawyers like a Fariy God Mother and an Evil Stepmother.  There are characters that are accusing the wolf, Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, and a girl who cried wolf.

Q: What will the set/props be?
A:We will be building a judges bench and Mr. Clark will be helping us paint a mural for the backdrop.  Costumes have been provided by Allcot Arts Center in KCK and the Lights will be brought in from SECT Lighting company.

I also asked if Big Bad is going to be as good as Cinderella, Cinderella, but Mr. Brame didn't answer. I'll let you decide for yourself what that means.

STAR TEACHER!!

Our next teacher that we would like to recognize is Mrs. Bachkora, the 6th grade science teacher. She is pregnant and her baby girl is due next month.  Her and her husband, Chris, have another little girl named Gabrielle who will be 2 next month. Gabrielle loves puppies, monkeys, and Shrek.  They have a dog named Tater and currently live in Mission, KS. She love sports and played them continuously throughout her life.  She played soccer at a D1 university in Saint Louis, called Saint Louis University, while her husband played baseball there. She was interviewed by an Apache News reporter to find out what she REALLY liked..
Me: How long have you been teaching?
Her: I have been teaching for 3 years now. This is my first year teaching at Arrowhead. I last taught in Leavenworth KS, and before that I lived and taught in Saint Louis, MO.

Me: What is your FAVORITE thing about AMS, or the students, or both?
Her: My favorite thing about AMS is the students! We have such a talented group of kids both academically, musically, dramatically, and athletically and I enjoy watching them work and succeed daily.

Me: What are two things NO ONE would guess about you?
Her: Two things no one may guess about me....when I was little I used to be an avid comic book junkie. I love art--drawing, painting, sculpture--and closely considered being an art teacher instead of a science teacher while in college.

Well, thats Mrs. Bachkora representing the 6th graders! Congratulations on your new baby girl, we (the AMS Apache News Team) hope for the best with your growing family.

Hot Spots!!

Thanks to Mr. Brame, our next stop is Oklahoma Joe's. Its located in two spots ONLY in Kansas. One of the spots is on South Strang Line Road in Olathe, KS. The other one is located on 47th and Mission Rd. in Kansas City, KS. Kansas is such a special place to have such great bar-be-que spots like Oklahoma Joe's and Gates. In fact, it has been debated that Kansas is among Memphis, TN. and Nashville, TN., to have the best barbeque EVER!!
When you pull up to Oklahoma Joe's, there are two immediate giveaways that it is something special. First is the line out the door, which started forming 20 minutes before the 11 a.m. opening. Secondly, it's in a gas station. There are many great BBQ joints across this nation occupying former gas stations, but Oklahoma Joe's is in a current gas station. Many people cant wait to get a taste of the wonderful food they have to offer. They have TONS to choose from; pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked turkey, smoked ham, smoked chicken, full slab of ribs, and MUCH more! Some of these things MAY sound like something you have NEVER tried but, you never know UNLESS you try; take a risk! One day when a family member asks you, "What you want to eat?" you should simply reply, "I wanna try this 'Oklahoma Joe's"...Trust me its worth it!!
