New Year of 2012 - By Ted

It feels like 2011 has gone by really fast. I can remember last New Years Eve, then Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day, getting out of school, Fourth of July, going back to school, Halloween, and Thanksgiving all happening right in a row. Now Christmas and the next new year are here.
I'm not going to write about Christmas - I'll save that for another person in the newspaper. I'm here to tell about the new year of 2012. There are tons of things to do on Dec. 31, like shooting fireworks (Is it legal? Oops...), eating junk food, and most importantly, staying up till midnight and watching T.V. specials, like the countdown in NYC. If you don't want to shoot fireworks, I guarantee that if you go outside at midnight you will see other people's fireworks going off. Don't freeze out there.
Another big thing is new year's resolutions. A new year means a new start. If you want to change something about yourself, a resolution is a good way to do it. Maybe you want to get better grades, lose weight, play a different sport, or something else. Just make sure to stick to your resolution - it would be really sad if you quit right after the start of the year. At least keep it up until March or April.
The scary thing about 2012 is that people think it's the year of the end of the world. Supposedly, Dec. 21, 2012 is doomsday because it is the end of the Mayan calendar. Do you think it's true? Personally, I think it's all fake and probably just a way for Hollywood to make money off of T.V. shows and movies. Have you seen the film "2012"?
To sum things up, a lot of things are happening in the following year. 2011 has been good, but i'm ready for new things, new people, new celebrations, and new experiences in 2012.
